Hey everyone, I'm looking forward to hearing your essays on Monday.

I've heard through the grapevine that many of you are planning to write on the Bible. Let me remind you that the assignment is to write about a book we read for class this year. We did not read the Bible; we read certain books of the Bible. If you're writing about the Bible, it needs to be about one of the specific books. This means you will need to think about why that particular book is one that everyone should read. And remember, you'll be reading these out loud for the class. Know your audience. Your audience has probably been told their whole lives that they need to read the Bible. Don't be lazy and fall back on the reasons that we all already know. If I made a comment in your notebook that romans 13 does not say "do not murder " i apologize. I thought the relevant part to the assignment was only the first half of the chapter, which is the only part I reread today for grading. Paul does in fact state that in the second part.
